Everybody wants the boho-chic look for all those fabulous summer social events, so here are 5 key pieces to help you achieve this style.
1. The Maxi Dress – whether sheer and floral or tight and stripy, these versatile dresses are a must-have for any boho wannabe’s wardrobe.
2. A Big Floppy Hat – not only do these wildly bohemian hats look majorly stylish they also uphold a practical purpose in hiding your bad hair day or shading your eyes from the summer sun.
3. A Fringed, Tassle Bag – these mock suede bags offer a hint of native Indian style adding some authentic flavour to your boho outfit. You can opt for the larger, more practical tassle bags or the teeny-tiny glamorous bags, either way they will help to create your desired boho image.
4. Gladiator Sandals – even if you’re not visiting the colloseum in Rome, these sandals are the perfect type of footwear to complement your boho outfit. As they come in a huge range of colours and styles you can find the perfect ones to add that extra special ‘oomph’ to your boho look.
5. Lace Waistcoats – This is the ideal accessory to your maxi dress, very popular on the festival scene and potentially equally as popular within the boho crowd. These stylish additions can be worn with most types of dress, playsuits and looks great with high waisted shorts.

These key pieces can be chopped and changed, for example why not swap the big floppy hat with a flower head band – almost like the daisy chains you could sit for hours making, these nymph like head bands look great balanced on tousled, sun kissed tresses. However, the beauty of the Bohemian ideal is that it’s independent so make sure this is apparent in your own, personal boho style.
Ever felt like your skins all clogged up after applying foundation? If you’re like me, you take your makeup off as soon as you’re alone to let your pores breathe. As a lover of the natural environment, I’m not a huge fan of all the preservatives and dyes. Even the added fragrances can cause problems for people with sensitive skin. The manufacturing of these chemical additives isn’t good for the environment; therefore why not find some foundation that doesn’t contain these chemicals.

In comes mineral foundation. Mineral foundation doesn’t contain any of these additives that are harmful to skin. They contain titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which have been proven to be beneficial to your skins health. There is a low allergy risk and they also provide strong sun block, protecting your skin from the sun’s rays. Zinc also has anti-inflammatory properties, making mineral foundation good for skin issues such as acne. Apparently, surgeons suggest to people that have just had facial plastic surgery that they use mineral products due to the healing properties for skin.
Many women like to use mineral foundation due to its lasting capability and the fact it doesn’t make your skin feel greasy. Most make-up brands now have mineral based products making them affordable for everyone and there isn’t only mineral foundation but mineral powder, mineral concealer and even mineral eye shadow. Bare Minerals even has lipsticks, mascara’s and application brushes designed to enhance the use of mineral make up.

When it comes to following fashions, many of us have a favourite A-list celebrity that we look to for style ideas. Cheryl Cole is one such star that is not only famous for being the other half of a famous footballer, one part of the UK’s most famous girlbands but also for her dress sense.
The stylish star is often dressed to the nines and really likes to push the boat out when it comes to style.

One thing that is constantly changing about this star is her hair. She certainly has this nailed and can work an assortment of different styles. From blonde to brunette this star has her hair nailed.
The stylish star started off as a blonde back in her pop bad days, she then opted for a more classy and timeless look. This came in the shape of a full head of brunette locks. The teeny star then re-vamped her wardrobe and worked shiny locks, bright lips and a statement set of uber hot hued attire.
Volume is one thing this star is never without and she really does well to keep her hair as big as her smile on the red carpet.
The stylish girl’s locks are often talked about and copied by many. This is probably because they change every other day! Cheryl even went for a more surfy style at one point and went short and choppy with a few golden highlights!
The star also shows us how to work elegant dressy dos and more low-key styles in the shape of low-slung pony tails and side swept fringes.
A good pair of hair straighteners is one of the most useful and flexible tools you will ever own. High quality hair straighteners are not, as the name may suggest, only useful for straightening your hair. As long as the straighteners heat up to high enough temperatures, you can use hair straighteners like the ones produced by ghd to style your hair in many different ways.
Straightening your hair is perhaps the simplest style you can achieve with a heat styler. If your hair is naturally very curly and stubborn, however, the process may take a little longer. Quality stylers like ghd straighteners rise to high temperatures that break down the hydrogen bonds in your hair that make it curl. Straightening is a simple process once you get the hang of it – you simply separate your hair into sections, then clamp the irons of the straightener around each piece, close to the scalp, and draw slowly downwards towards the tips. Move the styler in a slow but consistent sweep. If you go too fast, then your hair may not be exposed to the heat long enough to straighten. If you stop on one section of hair too long, you risk damaging it by overheating.

Curling your hair is actually a similar process to straightening, even though at first that may seem like a contradiction in terms! As with straightening, you need to separate your hair into sections and then clamp the straighteners around the hair closest to your scalp. However, as you begin to draw the styler downwards, make sure that you stop before you reach the tip. Then roll the styler back towards your head, curling the hair around it. When you have curled all the way back to your scalp, hold in place for ten seconds or so. If you want lose curls, hold for a short time, or for tight curls hold for a little longer. Then gently pull the styler out of the curl you have created, not back the way you came but sideways. This prevents you from undoing the work you have just done.

These are two of the main styles you can create with hair straighteners, and you can add as much variation to the basis of those styles as you like as well as creating many more. There are hundreds of styles to choose from, and the only way you are going to learn is to experiment as much as possible. For one more possible style, you can use hair straighteners to style an asymmetric bob. Simply proceed as if you were straightening your hair, only on one side of your head flick the hair outwards when you reach the tips, and on the other side flick inwards. This will create a styled bob with an asymmetric twist!
With the world of fashion changing its styles and trends every year, and even every season, it can be hard to keep up with what colours are the ones to watch. One thing that always remains consistent, however, is the association of hot summer months with light, bright shades to offset the darker tones of autumn and winter. Colours don’t only have fashion associations and benefits, but also psychological ones. Certain colours are associated with certain emotions, and wearing the brightest, happiest colours over the summer months will keep you feeling fabulous all season.

The first and most important tip when it comes to colours this summer is to stay away from black during the day. Not only is black a colour which absorbs light and heat, making you even warmer when you’re out in the sun, but it also contradicts the bright colour scheme that we associate with summer. Feel free to still break out the little black dress on a cooler summer evening, but whilst the sun’s out, avoid it at all costs.

The dominant colours this summer come in two collections; bright bold shades such as yellow, orange and green, as demonstrated by Cheryl Cole, and then softer delicate tones associated with boho fashion, white, cream and light tan. Even though fashion should be a consideration when buying your clothes this summer, remember that the most important thing is to keep cool and comfortable in scorching weather, so make your clothing choices accordingly. Aim to find your own individual colour scheme with which you feel comfortable, and remember – no black!
Increasingly in recent years, iconic female music artists have been branching out into other areas. Acting, fragrances and clothing lines are just a few of the areas of interest into which major female artists such as Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilara have expanded in attempts to reinvigorate their careers, and to capture the essence of their performance personality in fashion and style.

Victoria Beckham’s venture into clothing has been one of the most successful expansions to date, contrary to many people’s expectations. Unwilling to live in David’s shadow and unable to recapture her performance past in the Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham took a step out into the world of fashion and has so far been a surprising success with her sleek, sophisticated designs.
Victoria’s debut denim collection launched way back in 2007, to a heightened level of anticipation and a great deal of press coverage waiting to slam her latest attempt to make it as an individual icon rather than as half of ‘The Beckhams’. This denim collection wasn’t Vic’s first foray into fashion, having already designed jeans, handbags and jewellery for other brands. However, this was her great chance to set herself up as an iconic designer with her own collections, backed by a powerful name. As much as Victoria Beckham wants to set herself apart from her football star husband, being part of one of the world’s greatest power couples can’t be bad for publicity.
If you’re interested in any of Victoria Beckham’s clothing, you’d better be prepared to shell out big cash; these clothes are top of the range fashion and cost a pretty penny to boot. A good place to look for celebrity designs at reasonable prices is online at department stores. However, if you’re looking for sizes above an American 4 or a UK size 8, Victoria Beckham’s range probably isn’t up your street. Designed for the super skinny like Beckham herself, this clothing range doesn’t extend into the average American or British dress size.

If there is one style that is so summer 11 it has to be the maxi dress. There was a time when a floor skimming dress was only an evening item and only for posh events at that. But nowadays the maxi dress is as good on the beach as it is for an evening do.
A maxi dress is truly a versatile wardrobe option which can be styled up or down for evening or day. The dress is arguably one of most flattering for all shapes and sizes – for the curvy lady there are some lovely examples on http://www.onestopplus.co.uk/.
Styling for the day is all down to accessories. Team the dress with a pair of flip flops or sandals, or if you want a bit of height try a pair of wedges. Then add a casual denim jacket and a big shopper bag. For the beach keep the look simple and team with some sandals and your bikini or swimsuit underneath and of course a beach bag.

Styling for night time is completely different and you can really turn up the glam factor to make the dress look truly appropriate for evening. This said it is important to think about materials for evening wear. If you are going to a glam party then you will want to dress accordingly so go for a maxi dress that is a bit more luxe and make sure that the fabric is good quality. Then it is just a case of glamming it up with gorgeous jewellery and a pair of sexy heels.
For a sexy summer evening you just need to get the accessories right; so take your day dress and add a statement necklace a gorgeous pair of heels or wedges and maybe a statement belt. Next max up your makeup and you have the perfect day to night outfit.
Because the maxi is so versatile it is perfect for your summer holiday as it can go from day to night with a few simple accessories and leaving space in your suitcase for that extra pair of shoes!

Big hair is absolutely huge at the moment. A few years ago Amy Winehouse’s beehive reinvigorating the passion for massive hairstyles, but that fad faded quickly alongside Winehouse’s unfortunate career.
Now, however, national treasure Cheryl Cole is the UK’s favourite icon for big, bouffant hairstyles that seem to defy gravity, keeping Cole at the front of the fashion crowd in spite of various unfortunate events in her private and professional life.

This year Cheryl became the celebrity face of L’Oreal’s Elnett Hairspray, the answer to that pervasive question: how does she keep such a huge style in place? L’Oreal’s hairspray is the answer, and Cole can be seen modelling a variety of impressive hair-raising styles throughout the brand’s television advert for Elnett. She became the face of L’Oreal two years ago in 2009, when her star was firmly on the rise, and has fronted a variety of campaigns for them including for shampoo and lip gloss. This advert, however, is perfectly suited to Cheryl as she has built a strong reputation for herself over the past few years for sporting impressively voluminous hairstyles.
If you like Cole’s style and are looking to imitate it with your own hair, you will need to use copious amounts of hair spray in order to keep it in place. Like Cheryl, match your big hairstyles with some of the leading fashion trends of the moment; glamorous evening dresses work well with bouffant up dos, but if you keep your hair down and casual, match it with the boho chic style of clothing .Even if you use Cheryl as a source of inspiration, be sure to inject a little of your own personality in whatever style you choose to adopt.
